Loohaus Training Guide

Most dogs get it within a few days. Here’s how.

Dogs are naturally clean animals. They don’t want to mess near where they sleep or eat — they just need a spot that’s always in the same place.

Loohaus gives them that spot. Once they know it’s theirs, the routine takes over. Your job is just to guide them there consistently for the first few days.

The Method
01

Set up Loohaus

Pick a spot — anywhere in your home. Doesn’t have to be the bathroom. Lay the first pad. That’s it. What matters is keeping it in the same place while your dog is learning.

02

Let your dog explore it

Don’t rush. Let them sniff it, walk around it, get comfortable. If you have a used pad or something with their scent on it, place it on Loohaus first — it helps them understand it’s theirs.

03

Guide them at the right moments

Take your dog to Loohaus right after they wake up, after every meal, after playtime, and whenever you see them sniffing the floor or circling — that’s them looking for a spot.

04

Reward every single use

The moment they go on Loohaus — praise them. Treats, fuss, whatever they love. Never punish an accident. Just clean it up and keep going.

05

Stay consistent

Same spot. Same moments. Same reward. Most dogs settle into the routine within a few days. Some take two weeks — that’s fine too. Keep going.

Every Dog Is Different

Tips for your dog

Puppies

Puppies need to go every 1–2 hours, and always right after eating and waking up. Accidents are just part of it. Clean up without drama and keep guiding them to Loohaus. They get there fast — usually faster than you’d expect.

Senior Dogs

Senior dogs often adapt the quickest. No waiting, no weather, no going outside in the cold or rain — Loohaus is just always there. If they’re used to going outside, start by placing Loohaus near the door they normally use, then gradually move it to where you want it.

Anxious Dogs

Go slow. Let them explore on their own terms. Start by dropping treats near Loohaus, then on it, then reward for stepping on it. Never pick them up and place them on it — let them choose. Calm, patient energy wins every time.

Common Questions

My dog won’t go near it

Put treats on the pad. Sit near it. Let them associate it with good things before you ask them to use it. Give it a few days with no pressure.

My dog steps off and goes right next to it

Common at first. Try moving Loohaus to a slightly different spot, or place a used pad on it so their scent is already there. Keep guiding them back.

How long should training take?

A few days to two weeks is completely normal. Some dogs get it on day one. Others need more time. There’s no timeline to stress about — just stay consistent.

Can I use other pads?

Yes. Furhaus Pads are precision-cut for Loohaus with odour control and antibacterial built in, so they’re what we recommend. But any pad that fits works fine while you’re getting started.
